20 years ago today, I filed the DBA paperwork with Monterey County to officially launch CROSSWALK.
Unbelievable how time has flown. It seems like yesterday when I wrote the business plan for a local tutoring company that would become CROSSWALK. I was a grad student pursuing my MBA at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, now called the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
Thanks to Dr. Fredric Kropp and his Market Research class, I did a deep study into both the need and potential of a local tutoring company.
20 years later, CROSSWALK continues to serve the supplementary educational needs of the local area. Through group classes, private tutoring and an online presence, CROSSWALK has helped thousands of students improve their GPAs, boost test scores, and pursue academic dreams.
What keeps CROSSWALK going is a group of dedicated tutors. They are the true heroes in this story as most of them continue to be full time teachers or professionals who use their precious spare time to help kids achieve their academic goals.
I'm also deeply indebted to our many customers. CROSSWALK does little advertising as this business is mostly sustained by the word of mouth of our satisfied customers. It's been a joy to serve both students and families and do our part to contribute to successful academic achievements.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without my wife, Rebeca Higgins, and her support. Thank you, Rebeca, for always being by my side even when the business had its ups and downs.
Two decades of tutoring and test prep. Amazing.
And we keep going. On January 30th, we will kick off our Winter Test Prep Series. Time is running out to register. Sign up or find more information here.
